Work Party/Open Door

Following the disbandment of the Guild, we embarked on a new venture and it was decided that we would have an Open Door which commenced in October 2001.
We were to meet every fortnight on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, in the church premises. On the alternate Tuesday we would have the Work Party, which had always been a feature of the Guild.

There were to be few rules and regulations;

  • absolutely anyone who would like to join would be warmly welcomed;
  • there was no fee to join, but an offering would be taken during the afternoon to defray expenses (tea and biscuits are served during the afternoon)
  • and those attending would be asked to "sign in".

The group is not confined exclusively to members of the Old Kirk, it is open to all who would like to come along- hence "Open Door " .

The Open Door starts in October and continues through to December, recommencing in January and going through to March. Each aftenoon, there is something of interest arranged, such as a talk or a film. If anyone wishes further information, please contact Betty Parton on 01505 872934.

The Work Party meets in the lounge of the Kidston Hall on alternate Tuesdays to the Open Door. It is a very happy afternoon with lots of laughter as well as knitting (jumpers, blankets, baby garments etc). In the spring, there is a display of the work accomplished before everything is distributed to various organisations and charities. However if a special need arises during the year, we will send blankets.
