Justice, Peace and World Concerns Team
Team Leader: Jill Russell
- Twinning/Linking with a church overseas. Our Presbytery and the Presbytery of Churches in Zimbabwe have formed a Covenant of Friendship. We have applied formally to World Mission Council for a twinning with St. Peter’s in Gweru and their minister Matorofa Mutonganavo,
- Help given to Christian Aid Kilmacolm Committee regularly, with fundraising projects, Fairtrade events.
- Plan UK charity working in Ghana. Team have adopted Future Asare; involvement in her home village, in the Mankessim area, researching local school, medical centre and church.
- Homelessness in Glasgow and Greenock. Assistance with food and clothing project led by Loaves and Fishes charity.
Help offered to Lodging House Mission of Church of Scotland.
Starter Pack scheme in Greenock supported.
AIMS
- Awareness of the Church’s work in other countries, and the work of the World Mission Council.
- Maintaining the profile of Christian Aid and Fairtrade.
- Making contact with people involved in the Church’s overseas partnerships.
